Your safety

Safety Tips

Connect is built for dignified, Islamic introductions. These tips help keep your experience safe and purposeful.

Our community rules

These rules apply to all Connect members. Violations may result in suspension.

No fake profiles

Use your real identity, real photos and truthful information. Catfishing or impersonating others is grounds for immediate permanent suspension.

No sharing contact details in messages

Do not share phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers, email addresses, Instagram handles or any other personal contact information in messages. Connect automatically filters these. All communication should happen on the platform until both parties are comfortable.

No inappropriate content

Connect is a marriage platform guided by Islamic values. Any romantic, sexual or inappropriate content — in messages, photos or your bio — is strictly prohibited.

Must be 18 or older

Connect is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. If you suspect a member is under 18, report them immediately.

Must be Muslim or seeking a Muslim spouse

Connect is specifically for the Muslim community. Members must be Muslim or actively seeking a Muslim spouse.

Wali involvement is encouraged

Islamic marriage requires the involvement of a wali (guardian). We strongly encourage seekers to link a wali to their account. Connect's wali system makes this easy and private.

Protecting yourself

Take your time

There is no rush. A person with good intentions will respect your pace. If someone is pressuring you to move quickly, share contact details or meet privately, that is a warning sign.

Involve your wali early

Islam prescribes the involvement of a wali in the marriage process for good reason. Link your wali to your Connect account as early as possible so they can be part of the process from the beginning.

Verify before you trust

Look for the verified badge on profiles — it means the member's ID has been checked by our team. You can request verification yourself from Profile → Verify tab (Premium+ members).

Keep communication on Connect

Until you are comfortable and your wali is involved, keep all communication within Connect's messaging system. Do not move to WhatsApp, phone calls or other platforms prematurely.

First meetings should be chaperoned

Any in-person meetings should include a wali or trusted family member — this is both the Islamic recommendation and a common-sense safety measure. Use Connect's meeting request feature to formalise arrangements.

Never send money

Legitimate marriage seekers will never ask you for money, gift cards or financial assistance. This is a major red flag for scammers. Report anyone who does so immediately.

Trust your instincts

If something feels wrong, it probably is. You are never obligated to continue a conversation that makes you uncomfortable. Block, report and move on.

Warning signs to watch for

Report any member who displays these behaviours.

  • Asks for your phone number or personal contact details very quickly
  • Has very few photos, or photos that look like stock images
  • Claims to be overseas or unable to meet in person
  • Asks for money, gifts or financial help
  • Refuses to involve family or a wali at any stage
  • Pressures you to move fast or makes you feel guilty for taking time
  • Gets angry or aggressive when you set limits
  • Story or details change over time
  • Profile information doesn't match what they say in messages

A reminder

The Prophet ﷺ said: "A woman should not be alone with a man, and no lady should travel except with a Mahram." Connect is built to honour this — use the wali system, involve your family, and make du'a. May Allah make it easy for you.
